Israel says the Palestinian authority was involved in an attempt to illegally take weapons to Palestinian territories. Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat has opened an Investigation into the Israeli claims. Last week, Israel seized a ship carrying weapons in the Red Sea. The Palestinian head of the crew said the weapons were being taken to the Gaza Strip. An Israeli cabinet minister has said Iran was sending the weapons to Palestinian fighters. The Iranian government and Mr. Ararat both have denied links to the seized weapons.
