听力原文: Obtaining good health insurance is a real necessity while you are studying overseas. It protects you from minor and major medical expenses that can wipe out not only your savings but your dreams of an education abroad. There are often two different types of health insurance you can consider buying, international travel insurance and student insurance in the country where you will be going.

An international travel insurance policy is usually purchased in your home country before you go abroad. It generally covers a wide variety of medical services and you are often given a list of doctors in the area where you will travel who may even speak your native language. The drawback might be that you may not get your money back immediately. In other words, you may have to pay all you medical expenses and then later submit your receipts to the insurance company.

On the other hand, getting student heath insurance in the country where you will study might allow you to only pay a certain percentage of the medical cost at the time of the service and thus you don't have to have sufficient cash to pay the entire bill at once. Whatever you decide, obtaining some form. of health insurance is something you should consider before you go overseas. You shouldn't wait until you are sick with major medical hills to pay off.

(30)

A.It'll enable them to enjoy the best medical care.

B.It'll allow them to receive free medical treatment.

C.It'll protect them from possible financial crises.

听力原文: Many people dislike walking into the hank, standing in long lines and running ou
t of check. They are dissatisfied with their banks' limited hours, too. They want to do some banking at night and on weekends. For such people that problem may soon be over. Before long, they may be able to do that banking from the comfort leisure home, any hour of the day, any day of the week. Many banks arc preparing online branches or Internet offices, which means people will be able to take care of much of their banking businesses through the home computers. This process is called interactive banking. At these online branches, customers will be able to view all their accounts, move money between their accounts, apply for a loan, and get current information on products such as credit card. Customers will also be able to pay those bills electronically and even email questions to the bank. Banks are creating online services for several reasons. One reason is that banks must compete for customers, who will switch to another bank if they are dissatisfied with the services they receive. The convenience of online banking appeal to the kind of customers banks most want to keep, that is, people who are young, well-educated and have good incomes. Banks also want to take advantage of modem technology since they have moved into the 21st century

听力原文: Today I'd like to say something about taxis. I think it's beneficial to all new-
comers. Most people are likely to travel by taxi when they arrive in America. Actually, taxis here come under the heading of luxury travel. In Chicago, for example, the meter reads almost $1.00 before you even move! Furthermore, they're sometimes not only hard to find at the busy hours of a day but also if the weather turns had.

Generally speaking, taxis are metered throughout the country, but there are some cities, for example, Washington D. C. , where they operate on a distant zone system.

If you find yourself sharing a cab with several strangers, you will often be expected to pay full price, unfair though that may seem. Nothing is uniform. in the US. Furthermore, rules vary from one city to in other.

If you want to make a complaint about taxi service, note the driver's number and name. When you write to the company, be sure to keep a copy of your letter.

How do the Americans think of the taxi?

A.It's a useful means of travelling.

B.It benefits a lot to all Americans.

C.It's hard to find all the time.

D.It is a luxury and Americans seldom take it.

第10题

听力原文: There is much discussion today about whether economic growth is desirable. At an
earlier period, our desire for material wealth may have been justified. Now, however, this desire for more than we need is causing serious problems. Even though we have good intentions, we may be producing too much, too fast.

Those who criticize economic growth argue that we must slow down. They believe that society is approaching certain limits on growth. These include the fixed supply of natural resources, the possible negative effect of industry on the natural environment, and the continuing increase in the world's population. As society reaches these limits, economic growth can no longer continue and the quality of life will decrease.

People who want more economic growth, on the other hand, argue that even at the present growth rate there are still many poor people in the world. These supporters of economic growth believe that only more growth can create the capital needed to improve the quality of life in the world. Furthermore, they argue that only continued growth can provide the financial resources required to protect our natural surroundings from industrialization.

This debate over the demand of continued economic growth is of vital importance to business and industry. If those who argue against economic growth are correct, the problems they mentioned cannot be ignored. To find a solution, economists and business community must pay attention to these problems and continue discussing them with one another.

(32)

A.It has a negative effect on the natural environment.

B.The quality of our life is decreased.

C.The world's population is approaching certain limits on growth.

D.Natural resources are used up.
