Job Enrichment
While pay is an attempt to reward zestful employees, job enrichment is an effort to motivate via the work itself. Job enrichment is the (21) of changing the job so that the work will appeal to employees’ higher-level needs. Its aim is to make the work more meaningful.
First, job enrichment is merely (22) up, working harder at what you are doing. Second, it is not job (23) , merely adding another meaningless job. Some managers assume they are enriching subordinates’ work by adding their duties, but the duties must make the job more meaningful in order to be enriching. Third, rotating (24) tasks does not help, at least not very much. Fourth, job enrichment does not mean (25) away all the hard parts and making the task more routine.
Then what is job enrichment? Job enrichment is based on Frederick Herzberg's two-factor theory of (26) . Herzberg argued that because job rotation and job enlargement do not provide workers with any additional responsibility or (27) over their jobs, they do not really enhance employee motivation. Job enrichment (28) to increase both the number of tasks a worker does and the control the worker has over the job. Many companies (29) job enrichment to improve the quality of work life for their employees. The (30) benefits of job enrichment are great, but it requires careful planning and execution.

Money serves primarily as a medium of exchange --the function performed by money in facilitating exchange and eliminating the need for a barter system. Rather than follow the complicated process of (21) wheat directly for gasoline or clothing (the barter system), a farmer can sell the wheat and use the (22) from the sale to make other purchases.
Money also (23) as a unit of account-the common denominator for measuring the (24) of all products and services. A new car is worth, say, $9,500, a certain cut of beef $4, and a 40-yard-line ticket to a football (25) $ 20. Using money as a common denominator aids in comparing widely different products and services.
Finally, money acts as a temporary (26) . of value--a way of keeping accumulated wealth until it is needed to make new (27) . Wealth can also be held in the form. of stocks and bonds, real estate, antiques, works of art, houses, precious gems, or any other kind of valuable goods. The (28) of storing value in goods other than money is that they often produce additional income in the form. of dividends, interest payments, rent, or increases in value. For example, paintings by Renoir, Monet, and Van Gogh have greatly (29) in value over the past 20 years. But money offers one substantial advantage as a store of value. It is highly liquid. An asset is said to be liquid if it can be obtained and (30) quickly and easily.

?Which type of ownership (A, B or C) does each statement (1-7) refer to?
?For each statement (1-7), mark one letter (A, B or C).
?You will need to use some of these letters more than once.
A Partnerships
On the whole, this is not a popular form. of business organization, but it is often used by people in the professions, like doctors, dentists or lawyers, to expand their business.Greater efficiency is possible because people in this sort of association can spend their time doing what they are best at. If one person is sick, then the remaining partner(s) can carry on the work. The main disadvantage is that even with this form. of ownership, the amount of money available to the business may be limited. If people quarrel or disagree over decision-making there can be problems and serious delays.
B Public (PIC) Companies
These are the largest businesses in the private sector. There is no limit to the number of people holding shares in it and many of the larger companies have their shares listed on the stock exchange. The advantage of big businesses like this is that they find it easier to raise money as banks consider them a "good risk". There are strict laws governing the setting-up of this kind of business and each year the company has to publish its accounts. The larger such businesses grow, the more difficult it is to control them. Workers in such businesses may feel that management doesn't understand their problems.
C Private (Ltd) companies
Such businesses are not allowed to sell shares to the public. They must consist of at least two members, but there is no upper limit to the numbers who own the company. The larger size makes it possible for such companies to borrow more money from the banks or from issuing additional shares to its members. The advantage is that such a business is able to offer its members limited liability (responsibility) for debts and losses. Many companies of this type exist in England, Europe and the U.S.
There is no limit to the number of people holding shares in it.
