Dear Caroline,

It was lovely getting your letter two days ago. Thank you so much for it. You do seem to have had a good time on your holiday. I wish that I could have been with you. 1 was also very interested in what you have told me about your life and work in London.

I have also been on holiday. I was able to join some friends on a tour to the Philippines and we had a very good time there. We spent a few days in Manila, which is the capital, and then went to Baguio, a country town in the hills to the north of Manila. 1 usually save up as much money as 1 can in order to go away on holidays because Hong Kong is very hot and sticky during the summer. I plan to go to Thailand next year and 1 hope that one day 1 will be able to save enough money to go to Europe.

Now I restart my work and am very busy in the office. My boss is an American and although he is kind, he always gives me a lot of work to do. Description: While on patrol at the equipment warehouse, I noticed that the newly arrived equipment was very wet and had been severely damaged by water leaking through the ceiling.

Immediate actions taken:

a) The affected equipment was immediately removed from the damp area and dried by using blankets.

b) I made temporary repairs to stop the water entering the ceiling.

c) The matter was reported verbally to the Warehouse Manager at 7 : 00 a. m. today.

Findings:

A small team consisting of Mr. Smith (Maintenance), Mr. Robin (Warehouse Manager), and myself (Security), investigated the damages to the warehouse roof.

It was discovered that several parts of the roof were very weak indeed and in urgent need of repair. It was also found that the weakest part of the roof appeared to be over the equipment storage area.

Conclusions:

It appeared from our observations that recent heavy rain had weakened several parts of the roof, and that this was the cause of the water entering the warehouse.

Maintenance Department has agreed to make temporary repairs to the roof to stop water from entering the warehouse and provide temporary measures to protect equipment in the warehouse.

Recommendations:

It is strongly recommended that permanent repairs be carried out on the roof so as to solve the problem of water damage to equipment.

If men were the first to lose their jobs in the heart of the economic crisis in the United States, a study now shows a trend, women, (21) mothers today, are suffering the collateral effects, while the American economy is back on the road to growth.

According to a report by the Joint Economic Committee of American Congress, American men were the most affected at the beginning of the crisis as over- (22) in most key sectors such as building and industry. Today, they are finding jobs, unlike women and especially single mothers. Between October 2009 and March 2010, women have lost 22,000 jobs while men have found 260,000 jobs, a (23) by that Committee. According to the chairwoman of this Committee, Democrat Carolyn Maloney, the conclusions of the survey show that single women were particularly affected, with an (24) rate that (25) from 8 percent to 13.6 percent between the year 2007 to 2009.
