听力原文: Most of the students who come to America pay for their education with their own money or with money from their family. The group NAFSA, an association of international educators, says this is true of 81 percent of students. That is because not much financial aid is offered to foreign students in the United States. Foreign graduate students have more chances than undergraduate students do. Still, 47 percent of foreign graduate students pay for their studies with their own money or their family's money.

Most financial aid from government and private groups is restricted to American citizens. Some countries provide aid for their citizens to study in the United States, on the guarantee they return home to work.

The United States government provides aid for students from some countries. You can ask for details at an American Embassy or an office of the United States Agency for International Development. A local university may also have such information. And some American schools do provide financial aid for foreign students. A list of these can be found at a useful Website. The address is edupass, org. The site also provides information about where to write for financial help. And it warns foreign students net to pay if any money is requested for scholarship application forms. You could be cheated. This site also tells how to order publications such as "Funding for U.S. Study—A Guide for International Students and Professionals". This guide lists more than 600 places where international students can get help paying for their studies. You can also go to the site which is operated by the State Department, which is quite informative.

A lot of information about financial aid can be found on the Internet. If you do not have a computer, you might be able to use one at a local school or an educational advising center to search the information you want.

听力原文:W: Today’s arts report betrays Dan Parker of the American Indian Dance Theater. M
r. Parker, I understand your troupe performs traditional music and dance from many different Native American cultures. Can you give us an idea of some of the dances you’ll be doing in your performance tonight?

M: Certainly. We’ll be doing won-us-award dance. Originally it was a story telling device to recount battles. Another is the grass dance, performed by the plains Indians, where they actually flatten tall field grass to prepare it for a ceremony.

W: Since your dancers are from different tribes, how can you be sure the dances are done correctly?

M: Everything we do had been approved by the elders of our tribes. That’s partly because we don’t necessarily know each other’s styles or dances. But it’s also because it’s hard to get complete agreement even within the same tribe about exactly how the dance should be done.

W: Anyone who attends one of your performances will notice that your company goes to a lot of trouble to provide detailed explanations of the origin of the dances, the music, the costumes and so forth. Could you explain to our listeners why you do these?

M: Good question. There are always concerns that traditional dances performed in a theater are nothing more than spectacle. Our explanations show that in our cultures, dance is ritual rather than entertainment. We also want to make it clear to our audience that we are not performing any dances used for secret ceremonies.

What is the main topic of the conversation?

A.The dances of a Native American dance troupe.

B.How Native American ceremonial dances are classified.

C.Variations of a basic dance among Native American tribe.

D.How Native American artists are trained.
