听力原文: Once again in Richfield Heights today, there were no classes in the public elementary and secondary schools. This marks the eleventh day that the schools in that community have remained closed. Teachers are still on strike despite thc back-to-work order issued yesterday by the District Court. A spokesperson for the Teachers' Union stated at a press conference today that the strike would continue until such time as the School Committee agrees to a public hearing to settle the dispute, According to the spokesperson, wages are not an issue in the dispute. At issue is a new rule passed by the School Committee, which eliminates paid sick leave from the teachers' contract. Under the new contract, teachers would receive no salary for any day on which they failed to appear due to illness, School administrators, on the other hand, would continue to receive fifteen days of paid sick leave annually. The Parent Board, which was initially sympathetic to the teachers' position, has urged the teachers to return to work until a settlement can be reached. Spokespersons for the School Committee are refusing to comment on the latest developments.

听力原文: About seven out of ten people released titan prison end up in prison again sooner or latex. A lot of people think this simply indicates that once a person becomes a criminal he will probably remain a criminal. But of course it doesn't necessarily mean that at all. On the contrary, it could equally suggest that being in prison actually makes people more likely to commit crimes. After all, prisons are full of criminals, and this means that someone going to prison for the first rime is going to meet a lot more criminals than he's met before. So he'll probably learn a lot about crime during his stay there. The fact that so many people are getting re-arrested also suggests that prisons aren't doing enough to train people for jobs they can do when they get out. If they were given this training, ex-prisoners wouldn't need to turn to crime again to make a living.
(20)
A.Because he doesn't want to make a living like ordinary people.
B.Because only the prison can help him to control himself.
C.Because once being in prison, he is more likely to commit crimes.
D.Because he can't find a job when he gets out of the prison.

听力原文: In this century the traditional American family is constantly faced with the threat of breakdown. Some sociologists suggest that one little-noticed cause may be the introduction of the TV dinner.
Before the appearance of television sets, the American dinner was a big event for the family, for in many homes dinner time may he the only time when everyone got together. A typical dinner was usually in three stages. In the preparation stage, the children and father frequently helped with table setting while mother put the last touches on the roast. In the eating stage, family members shared the day's experiences and mere food was consumed. In this stage families got to know one another and made joint decisions around the dinner table, and thus the family solidarity was reinforced. In the cleaning-up stage, children or father again gave their hands, so that the significance to the home community was clear. Unfortunately, all of these have been erased by a product—the television set.
By the beginning of the 1980s, the typical American family dinner is just twenty minutes long. The speed-up of this once leisurely experience is clearly connected to the overall pace of modem life and maybe a model of the modern life is the TV dinners—meals designed to be consumed between the opening and closing credits of a half-hour program. The once family affair has now become nothing more than the use of a fork and knife.

He went to his drawer and took out the first envelope. The message read, "Blame your former CEO. " The new CEO called a press conference and laid all the faults on the previous CEO. Satisfied with his comments, the press responded positively, sales began to pick up and the problem was soon behind him. About a year later, the company was again experiencing serious product problems. Having learned from his previous experience, the CEO quickly opened the second envelope.
