听力原文:M: Hello, Sue. I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow.

W: How nice! Where are you going?

M: Italy. I am leaving at 9 tomorrow morning.

W: Are you driving to the airport?

M: Yes. It's about an hour. The plane takes off at 11 o'clock.

W: What are you going to do in Italy? Lie on the beach and get sun-tanned?

M: I enjoy sunbathing on the beach. But this holiday is going to be a bit different. It's more of a cultural holiday. I decide to visit some museums, art galleries and experience the lifestyle. of Italy.

W: Sounds interesting.

M: Yeah, I'm going to hire a car in Milan so I can drive around a bit.

W: That's a good idea. It will make it easier to see the whole city.

M: Right. How about you? What do you plan to do in the holiday?

W: Well, I haven't decided yet. Maybe I will go to visit my grandparents in the countryside. You know I like quiet places.

M: Your grandparents must be very happy.

W: Yeah. I haven't seen them for the whole semester.

听力原文:M: Hi, Sue.W: Hello, Jill, how are you?M: I'm fine. Did you watch the TV special

听力原文:M: Hi, Sue.

W: Hello, Jill, how are you?

M: I'm fine. Did you watch the TV special about barnacles last night?

W: No, I missed it. What did you learn about them?

M: They glue themselves to rocks in the ocean, shortly after birth. They also stay in the same place forever.

W: Right, have you ever tried removing one of these things? It would be easier to chip the rock away than to get the barnacles off.

M: Exactly, and that's why scientists are trying to figure out what the barnacles glue is made of. It's considered one of the strongest adhesives in nature.

W: And it would have the advantage of being able to work on wet surfaces too.

M: Precisely, and because it's natural protein, it probably wouldn't be harmful to people like so many synthetic glues in use today.

W: Think of all the ways in which doctors and dentists could use such a glue to mend broken bones and fasten false teeth.

M: There could be countless uses. Scientists hope to learn soon exactly how the glue is made, so that people can make use of it.

W: That's good news for the general public. I hope it won't take long for the new glue to be put into use.

(23)

A.The reproductive cycle of barnacles.

B.A new source of protein.

C.Types of sea animals.

D.The adhesive quality of barnacles.

听力原文:M: Hi! And welcome to another edition of "Crime Watch", the only talk- back radio
program that features real-life victims of crime and discusses ways to deal with it. And, our first caller is Sue. Hello Sue!

W: Hello !

M: Tell me, Sue. What happened to you?

W: I was involved in a bank robbery.

M: You weren't!

W: I certainly was !

M: Tell us what happened.

W: Well, I was just going to the bank, which I do every week, and I was standing in line waiting to be served, when suddenly this hooded man with a gun burst into the bank and started screaming and yelling for us all to put our hands up. So, we're all standing there with our hands up, while he forceed a teller to fill his bag with money. M: Wow! How long were you standing there like that for?

W: Not long. It all happened so quickly ! As soon as the robber had his bag full, he left, and the same teller who had filled his bag called the police. So we were all interviewed and had to testify.

M: You testified? You mean, they caught him?

W: They sure did. They gave him 10 years.

M: Wow! And, were you scared?

W: Absolutely. I was fearful !

M: So tell us, what's the best strategy when you're in a situation like that?

W: Well, I think the best thing to do is to stay calm. The robber might be armed, so you definitely don't want to panic-that would only attract attention to yourself. Also, don't make eye contact with the robber. All the banks have surveillance cameras, so let them do the work. And don't put up a fight-cooperate, give them whatever they ask for.

M: Well, that's very interesting advice, Sue. Now, if any of you listeners out there have advice, questions or comments for Sue, our staff are ready and waiting to take your call.

What does the radio program "Crime Watch" deal with?

A.It tries to arrest the criminals with the help of people.

B.It focuses on the description of the criminals.

C.It indicates that the society is not safe.

D.It aims to discuss ways to deal with crime.

听力原文:M: Hi! You're listening to Radio South West. The best in the South West for music
and up-to-minute news. Sue's here. Hello, Sue.

W: Hello, David.

M: And we've got the job spot for you today. How about you, Sue, what have you got7

W: Right, David. Well, the first one we've got is a cook. That's in a large, busy restaurant, so it's very useful to have experience in large-scale cooking. The age is around twenty-five or so and the pay is $2 an hour. So that's not bad, isn't it? The hours are good too. That's Monday to Friday, 3:00 till 6:30.

M: Great. Thanks,

W: Now, how do you fancy working in doors? We've got a shorthand typist job here, that's in an office. And this job might suit a woman with a school-age child, because the hours are only fifteen hours a week. The age is twenty to forty and the pay depends on that age. It's small, a friendly office, but there is experience. That's a nice shorthand typist's job in an office.

M: Great. Well, here's another job possibly for somebody who's a school-leaver. It requires no experience at all, but training will be given on the job. And the pay is $67 a week. What's the job? Well, it's a shop assistant in a busy supermarket. The big thing is, you don't need any experience. You get one day off during the week. OK? So that's a shop assistant. Well, if you fancy any of those jobs, give us a ring here on job spot at Radio South West. And now back to the music.

(23)

A.From Monday to Friday, 8:30—5:00.

B.From Monday to Friday, 3:00—6:30.

C.6 days a week.

D.15 hours a week.
