听力原文:W: Excuse me, sir. I'm new here. Could you show me how to make a phone call?

M: Sure. Have you got any small change?

W: Yes, I've got a quarter and some dimes and nickels.

M: Quarter will do. Now, first insert the quarter into the hole. When you hear the dial tone, a steady buzzing sound, dial the number you want.

W: If the line is busy...

M: When you hear a short regular beeping sound about every second, you hang up and your coin will be returned to you. Then do it all over again.

W: The trouble is I don't know the phone number of my friend.

M: That's easy. Here are two phone books. This is what we call the "White Pages", which lists the names, addresses, and tele-phone numbers of people in the area. Remember, the names are listed alphabetically with the last or surname first.

W: What about the other book?

M: This is the "Yellow Pages", which lists all businesses, hotels, theaters, schools and services in the area. This listing is arranged according to the type of establishment.

W: Thanks. I'll have a try.
