We are creative whenever we look at or think about something in a new way. First, this includes an awareness (意识) of our surroundings. It means using all of our senses to become aware of our world. This may be as simple as being aware of color and texture (质地), as well as taste, when we plan a meal. Above all, it is the ability to notice things that others might miss.
A second part of creativity is an ability to see relationships among things. If we believe the expression, "There is nothing new under the sun. The creativity is remaking or recombining (组) the old in new ways." For example, we might do this by finding a more effective way to study or a better way to arrange our furniture, or we might make a new combination of camera lenses and filters to create an unusual photograph.
A third part of creativity is the courage and drive to make use of our new ideas, to ask for them to achieve some new results. To think up a new idea is one thing; to put the idea to work is another.
These three parts of creativity are included in all the great works of geniuses, but they are also included in many of our day to day activities.
Which of the following activities is NOT a creative one according to the passage?
A.To prepare for a meal.
B.To arrange the furniture in a special way.
C.To buy some books from a bookstore.
D.To "write" a letter with the computer.

M: Well, although nine out of ten parents use smacking as a punishment, half of them feel guilty about using it. The other half do smack their children and think they are right. It seems most parents we talked to smack their children more than once a week and 5% actually smack their children every day.
W: The report suggests that parents should make more efforts to understand their children and that smacking isn't always the best solution if children are naughty.
M: Yes, parents should try harder to understand how their children feel when they react in certain ways. For example they might be jealous of a new baby brother or a sister or they might feel insecure. Any number of things might make the child react badly.
W: So in those kinds of situations it would be better not to smack children?
M: Yes, obviously because when a child's behaving badly, it needs love and attention, not anger and violence. I think parents should think really carefully before they smack their children.
W: Maybe parents should find an opportunity to communicate with their children.
M: That's right.

At the beginning of this century, almost everybody believed in work. But by the end of this century, e might be thinking quite differently. Today, people are divided into social classes in accordance with the types of work they do; tomorrow, t is more than likely we will be divided according to the types of games we play.
This change in the use of our time may give rise to a now profession called" fun specialists," who will fill the same functions as our current career specialists. They will show us how to get the most fun and enjoyment out of our leisure time. Someday people will no longer be known primarily by the work they do.

Speech is the most important means of communication between people. But it is not the only one. Nor is it the oldest. We use facial expressions, gestures, and hand movements to express our feelings and to send signals to other people. Animals use this "body language" a great deal. The sign language used by deaf people is an example of communication without speech, while blind people communicate largely through touch and hearing.
According to the passage, what would happen to us without communication?
A.We should learn everything for ourselves.
B.We would become unable to speak.
C.We couldn't live happily.
D.We might have to do everything by ourselves.

Foresight may reveal potential threats that we can prepare to deal with before they become crises. For instance, a corporate manager with foresight might see an alarming rise in local housing prices that could affect the availability of skilled workers in the region. The public's changing values and priorities, as well as emerging technologies, demographic shifts, economic constraints (or opportunities), and environmental and resource concerns are all parts of the increasingly complex world system in which leaders must lead.
People in government also need foresight to keep systems running smoothly, to plan budgets, and to prevent wars. Government leaders today must deal with a host of new problems emerging from rapid advances in technology.
Even at the community level, foresight is critical: School officials, for example, need foresight to assess numbers of students to accommodate, numbers of teachers to hire, new educational technologies to deploy, and new skills for students (and their teachers) to develop.
Many of the best-known techniques for foresight were developed by government planners, especially in the military, when the post-World War Ⅱ atomic age made it critical to "think about the unthinkable" and prepare for it. Pioneering futurists at the RAND Corporation (the first "think tank") began seriously considering what new technologies might emerge in the future and how these might affect U.S. security. These pioneering futurists at RAND, along with others elsewhere, refined a variety of new ways for thinking about the future.
The futurists recognized that the future world is continuous with the present world, so we can learn a great deal about what may happen in the future by looking systematically at what is happening now. The key thing to watch is not events (sudden developments or one-day occurrences) but trends (long-term ongoing shifts in such things as population. land use, technology, and governmental systems). Using these techniques and many others, futurists now can tell us many things that may happen in the future. Some are nearly certain to happen, such as the continuing expansion in the world's population. Other events are viewed as far less likely, but could be extremely important if they do occur, such as an asteroid colliding with the planet.
Correctly exercising foresight is shown in the case of ______.
A.new products and services
B.an increase in minority populations
C.stocking more foods with ethnic tastes
D.the appealing art museum director
