Energy equals mass times the speed of light squared. This is the famous equation of Albert
Einstein. It(51)to the category of the theory of relativity, and it equates energy with mass.

All things are made up of atoms. When(52)of an atom travels at almost the speed of light(53)we put more energy into it to increase the speed, it begins to in crease in mass. The energy that makes it travel fast cannot make it travel(54)the speed of light—nothing(55)light can travel that fast- so the energy goes into the thing(56)and increases its mass. Energy(57)into mass.

Why is the theory called the theory of relativity? A thing that is relative depends upon(58)else to identify it or to define it. In relativity theory we identify or define mass, time, and length(59)to the speed of light.

When something is at rest, it looks(60)in length. However, when it travels at almost the speed of light, it becomes(61). Time also changes. However, the change in time is(62)to the change in length. The length of a thing becomes short(63)time becomes long.

If you want to(64)young, relative to a friend, take a trip in a spaceship that travels at(65)the speed of light. And, although time and heartbeat seem ordinary to you in the spaceship, when you return, look at your friend; Relative to you, he or she is old.

Throughout the world there is a shortage of human organs for transplants. In Britain, for
example, 6000 people are waiting for organs ——5000 for kidneys, and the (51) for hearts, lungs and livers. (52) , only about 1750 kidney, 500 heart and lung, and 650 liver transplants are (53) each year. And the waiting (54) increases at five percent a year. In the United States only half of the 30000 in need of organs (55) them.

Hence the great interest in animal-to-human transplants, known as xenografts or xenotransplants (from the Greek work xenos, meaning strange of foreign) (56) most scientists believe is the only long-term solution to the organ (57) . There have been attempts at xenotransplants (58) the beginning of this century but neither has been successful; the longest (59) was a 20-day-old baby called Fae, who in 1984 was (60) the heart of a baboon.

The main (61) with any organ transplant is that the immune system of the patient receiving the organ sees the transplant organ (62) an invader. The immune system therefore launches a massive attack on the invader, activating enzymes knows as complement, which attack the (63) body, eventually killing the patient as well. This rejection has been (64) when transplanting human organs between humans by the close matching of tissue and the long-term use of drugs known as immuno-suppressants, first introduced just over ten years ago. With xenotranplants, however, rejection is even more (65) ; a normal pig's heart, for example, transfuses with human blood can be destroyed in 15 minutes.

听力原文: Good morning, everyone. Today I'll talk about the Internet. The Internet is a co
mputer-based worldwide information network. The Internet is composed of a large number of smaller interconnected networks called internets. These internets may connect hundreds or thousands of computers, enabling them to share information with each other and to share various resources, such as powerful super computers and databases of information. The Internet has made it possible for people over the world to effectively and inexpensively communicate with each other. Unlike traditional broadcasting media, such as radio and television, the Internet is a decentralized system. Each connected individual can communicate with anyone else on the Internet, can publish ideas, and can sell products with a minimum overhead cost. In the future, the Internet may have a dramatic impact on higher education and business as more universities offer courses and more companies offer goods and services on-line.

The internets from which the Internet is composed are usually public access networks, meaning that the resources of the network can be shared with anyone logging onto, or accessing the network. Other types of internets, called intranets, are closed to public use. Intranets are the most common type of computer network used in companies and organizations where it is important to restrict access to the information contained on the network.

During the 1990s, the Internet has grown tremendously in the number of people using it and the amount of information contained on it. According to the Internet Society, a non-profit society that studies and promotes the use of the Internet, 134 countries had full Internet connection and an additional 52 countries had limited access(for example, E-mail only)in 1996. Some surveys found that as of September 1997 there were between 53 and 57 million users of the Internet worldwide.

Which of the following is true about the Internet according to the talk?

A.The Internet is different from television in which it's more convenient.

B.The Internet may greatly affect the ways of college education and business.

C.The Internet is the cheapest way of communication with other people.

D.The Internet is composed of many computers.

Blood pressure is simply the force (53) against the walls of the body's arteries (血管) as blood flows through. The force, produced primarily by the pumping (54) of the heart, is essential for the (55) of the blood and its life-supporting nutrients(营养) to all parts of the body. Every time the heart (56) , called a systole, blood pressure increases. When the heart relaxes (57) beats(diastole), the pressure decreases. The normal systolic pressure of a person at vest is between 100 to 140, and the normal diastole is 60 to 90. Blood-pressure readings are expressed by both (58) , with the systolic over the diastolic: for example, 140/90.

As these ranges suggest, there is a wide (59) of blood pressure for healthy people. Also, blood pressure (60) for healthy people during different times of the day and under different. (61) .
