It turned out that the show&39;s producers, who were pulling the strings, gave the answers to the most popular contestants beforehand. Why？ Because if the audience didn&39;t like the person who won the game, they turned the show off. Based on his story, a movie under the title Quiz Show is on 40 years later.

Charles Van Doren is no longer involved with TV. But game shows are still here, though they aren&39;t taken as seriously. In fact, some of them try to be as ridiculous as possible. There are shows that send strangers on vacation trips together, or that try to cause newly-married couples to fight on TV, or that punish losers by humiliating them. The entertainment now is to see what people will do just to be on TV. People still win money, but the real prize is to be in front of an audience of millions.

A gear mechanism converts vertical movements of the pack to rotary motions of an electrical generator， producing up to 7.4 watts.

Unexpectedly， tests showed that wearers of the new backpack alter their gaits in response to the pack"s oscillations， so that they carry loads more comfortably and with less effort than they do ordinary backpacks. Because of that surprising advantage， Rome plans to commercialize both electric and non-electric versions of the backpack.

The backpack could be especially useful for soldiers， scientists， mountaineers， and emergency workers who typically carry heavy backpacks. For the rest of us， power-generating backpacks could make it possible to walk， play video games， watch TV， and listen to music， all at the same time. Electricity-generating packs aren"t on the market yet， but if you do get one eventually just make sure to look both ways before crossing the street!

The second adjustment in the understanding of man"s relation to the physical universe was not generally acceptable54the sixteenth century. Copernican revolution soundly55the heliocentric Concept， the theory of a universe56on the sun. Man is a stubborn adherent to official dogma; eventually， however， he accepted the sun as the center.

Then， forty years ago， came the need for a third adjustment. This57has deeply exploded man"s pride and58， for it has carried with it the knowledge of the appalling number of galaxies.
